Firm Statement Condemning Racism Against Asian/Pacific Americans

We are angered and saddened by the need to continue to address racially motivated acts of hatred and violence against members of the communities in which we live and work. Over the past year, there has been a marked increase in physical and verbal attacks directed at members of the Asian community. This crescendo of abuse and harassment resulted in the murder of eight people last week.

We cannot let this continue and must recognize and clearly address anti-Asian bias and racial intolerance. Hinckley Allen condemns all acts of racism and is committed to combating racial injustices and acts of bigotry and violence in all of its ugly forms.  We stand in solidarity with the community to fight for a more inclusive and equitable future.  As a law firm, we work each day to ensure that our clients are treated fairly and that their rights are upheld. As citizens, we must make that same commitment to our neighbors and stand together with those experiencing injustice.

As the hateful incidents continue to grow in number, it is more important than ever that we battle these horrific acts. We must do all that we can to ensure that such injustices will not be tolerated. Hinckley Allen remains committed to this fight. Our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee is enhancing our programing to ensure we can more easily recognize, understand and address anti-Asian bias and racial intolerance.  We will also be making monetary contributions and working with organizations on the frontlines combating anti-Asian hate, including Equal Justice Initiative and Stop AAPI Hate, among others. We encourage your participation in these efforts.

Working together, we will make a difference in our communities.

Sincerely,

David J. Rubin, Managing Partner
