Former Democratic Gubernatorial Candidate Jay Gonzalez Joins Hinckley Allen

Brings extensive experience in public finance, government, and health care

Former Democratic gubernatorial candidate Jay Gonzalez will join Hinckley Allen to lead the Firm’s work with public sector clients, bringing more than 20 years of public and private sector leadership and legal experience.

Gonzalez will be a Partner in the Firm’s Boston office. In his role, he will reunite with two of his former law partners to expand Hinckley Allen’s nationally-recognized Public Finance practice and leverage the breadth of expertise and experience throughout the firm to help public sector clients and those with interests before government address the challenges they face. Gonzalez will also apply his public policy, regulatory, and leadership experience in the health care sector to support Hinckley Allen’s Health Care practice.

Gonzalez brings more than two decades of experience to Hinckley Allen, including:

  • Serving as President & Chief Executive Officer of CeltiCare Health Plan of Massachusetts and New Hampshire Healthy Families, subsidiaries of Centene Corporation, where he successfully led all aspects of the health insurance companies to provide government-subsidized health care coverage to low-income individuals in the state Medicaid programs
  • Serving as the Secretary of Administration and Finance of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, where he successfully managed a $32 billion state budget through the Great Recession, oversaw 18 state agencies with more than 3,000 employees, and chaired the boards of the Health Connector and the Life Sciences Center
  • Working as a Partner in the public finance department of a major Boston law firm representing cities, towns, and other governmental entities in the financing and development of capital projects and other governmental programs

“Jay is a tremendous addition to Hinckley Allen,” said David J.
