Hinckley Allen Strengthens and Expands Corporate and Litigation Practice


Hinckley Allen is proud to announce the hiring of Daniel L. Gottfried, a tax and corporate partner in Hartford, CT and David A. Wollin a litigation partner in Providence, RI to the firm. 

Dan most recently was a tax partner at Rogin Nassau LLC in Hartford. His practice encompasses structuring, negotiating, and documenting business deals and investment transactions throughout the United States and around the world. Dan has particular experience with international tax planning and compliance, as well as taxation of intellectual property. He also assists clients in tax audits and appeals.  

In addition to tax work, Dan represents a variety of business entities, particularly entrepreneurial businesses, private investment funds, and family office investors, in general corporate matters, investment and financing transactions, private securities offerings, and mergers and acquisitions. He helped to establish VentureGeeks – Israel’s first privately funded start-up accelerator. 

Gottfried received his J.D. from The University of Connecticut School of Law, with Honors and a Certificate in Taxation. In law school, he was a Dean’s Scholar, won the Michele Marilyn Hampton Scholarship and sat on the Moot Court Board.

Dan is an adjunct professor at The University of Connecticut School of Law. He is an officer of various committees for the American Bar Association and the Connecticut Bar Association dealing with international tax, M&A, and joint ventures. He has written many articles and spoken before many professional organizations. Among others, Dan has been featured on National Public Radio, Standard Federal Tax Reports, Hartford Business Journal, and Tax Notes International.  He has also been recognized as Super Lawyer “Rising Star” for Tax Law.

David A. Wollin joins the firm from Adler Pollock & Sheehan.  Mr. Wollin has achieved significant results for his clients in complex civil litigation, from the trial court through the appeal. Listed in Best Lawyers in America® and Chambers USA, America’s Leading Lawyers for Business, he litigates a wide variety of matters, including commercial, products liability, environmental, toxic tort and insurance defense cases.

Recently, as lead counsel, he obtained a multi-million dollar judgment for a non-profit hospital in a dispute with its former parent, establishing gross negligence, breach of fiduciary duty and intentional misrepresentations. His substantial track record also includes securing dismissal of securities and products liability cases and obtaining one of the largest jury verdicts in Rhode Island in a commission dispute. 

Co-author of a leading treatise on civil and appellate procedure, David has represented publicly traded and private companies in national and regional litigation in federal and state courts. He has also appeared as lead counsel in federal and state appellate cases. He is a member of the International Association of Defense Counsel, the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance and the Federation of Defense & Corporate Counsel and has served as an arbitrator with the American Arbitration Association. 

David received his J.D. from the Duke University School of Law, where he was Dean’s Cup Moot Court Champion and Senior Editor of Law and Contemporary Problems.
