Hinckley Allen Counsels Twin River During Purchase of Newport Gaming License

With the counsel of attorneys from Hinckley Allen in Rhode Island and Jones Day in New York, Twin River Management Group completed its purchase of the Newport Grand slot facility. Twin River hopes to move the gaming facility to a new location in Tiverton and add table games, pending local and statewide voter approval.

With this acquisition, Twin River now owns the only two licensed video lottery facilities in Rhode Island, which generate significant revenue for the state. Led by Gaming Group chair Mark Hichar, a team of Hinckley Allen attorneys from several practice areas were involved in the transaction, including attorneys from the firm’s Real Estate, Litigation, Employee Benefits, Labor and Employment, Intellectual Property and Corporate groups.

Hinckley Allen counseled Twin River on a variety of matters, including critical real estate aspects of the deal, due diligence and drafting agreements important to the acquisition. The firm also assisted with a Department of Business Regulation licensing hearing, Rhode Island Lottery license approvals, and various state and local licenses and approvals.
