Ronald D. Ciotti, partner in the Construction & Public Contracts Practice Group, will be the featured speaker at the Associated General Contractors of America’s (AGC) “The Art of Dealing with Tariffs” webinar on February 27, 2025. From AGC:
The Trump Administration has already issued three executive orders that impose new tariffs on imports from Mexico, Canada, and China. Although the tariffs on Mexico and Canada have been suspended for 30 days, the President recently announced that a 25% tariff on all steel and aluminum imports will go into effect on March 4. He has also suggested that he will impose tariffs on the goods of any country that levies tariffs on American made goods. These tariffs will significantly impact costs and supply-chain availability. President Trump wrote the book on the “Art of the Deal.” This webinar will write your playbook on how to equip your company with tactics to mitigate the cost and disruption impacts caused by new tariffs.
Our expert speaker panel will provide strategies to gain a sense of the big picture on tariffs and create specific tactics. You will learn how you might address tariffs in your existing contracts as well as how to bid and negotiate contracts going forward. Significantly, this webinar will explain in detail how a well drafted price escalation clause is the best approach to this uncertain situation, as well as evaluate other contract avenues, including choice of law and force majeure provisions. You will learn how to fairly allocate these risks among owners, general contractors, trade contractors, and suppliers. By registering for this webinar, you will be in a better position to utilize contractual best practices to safeguard your projects against new tariffs.
