Hinckley Allen is pleased to announce that Alexa T. Millinger, a partner in the firm’s First Amendment & Media Law Group, has been appointed secretary of the Connecticut Foundation for Open Government (CFOG).
Alexa has served on CFOG’s Board of Directors since 2021, supporting the organization’s work to promote government transparency, freedom of information, and the public’s right to access government records and proceedings.
Founded in 1991, CFOG advances open and accountable government throughout Connecticut. The organization provides educational programming on First Amendment and Freedom of Information issues, evaluates government compliance with public-access laws, and underscores the essential role of a free press in an informed democracy.
Alexa’s leadership with CFOG closely aligns with her First Amendment and media law practice. She represents newspapers, television networks, digital platforms, and individual journalists in matters involving access to public records and court proceedings, defamation, newsgathering, and prepublication review. Her work includes successfully representing Connecticut media organizations seeking records related to the Connecticut State Police ticketing scandal and helping the Center for Investigative Reporting’s Reveal enforce its rights under Connecticut’s Freedom of Information Act.
Through both her practice and her service to CFOG, Alexa helps protect the legal principles that enable journalists to report on matters of public concern and allow communities to hold public institutions accountable.
