Hinckley Allen has hired Patrick F. McDermott as the Director of External Affairs in New Hampshire.
Pat most recently was the economic and community development manager at Public Service of New Hampshire, where he was instrumental in developing public policy on long-term issues that impact New Hampshire’s economy, including new business development, support of existing businesses, workforce development and travel and tourism. He has also been an integral participant in major economic development coalitions that have generated policy recommendations on key economic issues.
Pat’s work at Hinckley Allen will include: business development for the firm, including direct outreach to his many business and industry contacts, fee-based consulting in his areas of expertise, assistance with community relations, helping clients with strategic initiatives and providing support to Hinckley Allen’s NH government affairs practice.
Named one of the most influential businesspeople in 2012 by Business New Hampshire magazine, Pat was appointed senior economic development advisor to Department of Resources and Economic Development Commissioner Sean O’Kane in 2005, and has also served as a founding board member of the New Hampshire Main Street Center, on the board of the New Hampshire Preservation Alliance and as a member of the New Hampshire Economic Development Advisory Committee.
Pat’s efforts in helping to recruit new companies to New Hampshire earned him a special commendation from Governor John Lynch in 2011. He has also received the New Hampshire Commissioner’s Award for Excellence in Economic Development, a citation from former Governor Craig Benson for economic development excellence, the New Hampshire Small Business Development Center Partnership Award, the New Hampshire Travel Council’s Travel Person of the Year award and honors from the Business and Industry Association.
Pat earned his bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Keene State College and a master’s degree from Southern New Hampshire University.
