Christopher D. Romeo

AssociateBoston

Christopher Romeo is a patent attorney who brings a rare combination of firsthand engineering experience and USPTO knowledge to his patent prosecution practice. Advising clients across many technologies, Christopher is particularly skilled at protecting mechanical systems, electromechanical control systems, cooling circuits, and materials science.

In addition to prosecuting patent applications, Christopher prepares office action responses, amendments, appeal briefs, and restriction analyses for his clients. Working with domestic and international clients, he focuses on building and safeguarding intellectual property portfolios. He works collaboratively with clients so that they may develop informed strategies for managing risk mitigation and maximizing the value of their innovations.

Christopher draws upon his firsthand experience serving as a Patent Examiner at the United States Patent and Trademark Office. In this role, he examined applications in control systems, robotics, vehicle controls, and medical devices. Working at the USPTO, he learned the methods examiners use to evaluate claims and approach patentability, knowledge he brings to bear for his clients.

Before becoming a lawyer, Christopher established deep technical knowledge in mechanical and fluid systems engineering while working as an application engineer and technical consultant at Dassault Systèmes. For many years, he performed computational fluid dynamics analysis in aerodynamics, wind and fan noise, rainwater management, and HVAC design, and provided technical consulting for an electric vehicle manufacturer in China.
