Hinckley Allen is pleased to share that Mitchell R. Edwards, a partner in the firm’s Providence office, and his wife, Luann Edwards, received Higher Ground International’s Village Supporter Award at the 17th Annual Cultural Gala & Village Leader Awards on October 17 at Rhodes on the Pawtuxet in Cranston.
Mitch and Luann are being recognized for their sustained commitment to Higher Ground’s work serving Rhode Island’s Liberian and West African immigrants, refugees, and other marginalized communities. For more than seven years, they have consistently supported Higher Ground’s mission to restore dignity, empower lives, and keep peace. Mitch was elected Vice Chair of the Board at Higher Ground in 2023.
“Luann and I have been honored to be a part of Higher Ground’s mission to advocate, empower, and provide services in a way that honors the unique individuality of the Liberian and West African community as well as other marginalized communities,” says Mitch. “It is essential for us to come together as a community to support opportunities for prosperity for all.”
As a partner at Hinckley Allen, Mitch handles complex commercial litigation nationwide. His work spans disputes for financial institutions, health care providers, energy companies, and real estate developers; product liability and toxic tort defense for manufacturers and distributors; and a wide variety of other business disputes.
Mitch pairs his practice with sustained civic and charitable engagement, serving as Chair of Hinckley Allen’s Pro Bono Committee. His prior leadership includes roles with Junior Achievement of Rhode Island, Leadership Rhode Island’s Board of Governors, and Rocky Hill Country Day School. He also currently serves on the Board of the Wolf School.
