Partner Charlie Normand Honored with Silver Beaver Award for Volunteer Service to Scouting

Hinckley Allen is pleased to announce that partner Charlie Normand was awarded the Silver Beaver Award by the Narragansett Council of Scouting America (formerly Boy Scouts of America) at its Volunteer Recognition Dinner on January 29, 2025. The Silver Beaver Award is the highest honor that a Council can bestow on volunteer leaders. Charlie was honored for his outstanding contributions to support youth development and community engagement.

“The most rewarding part of working with Scouting America is seeing its profound impact on young people,” said Charlie. “It builds confidence, leadership, and life skills. Watching scouts step out of their comfort zones, deliver presentations, and develop into strong leaders has been incredibly fulfilling.”

A dedicated advocate for Scouting, Charlie has served on the Narragansett Council’s Executive Board for over a decade. In the past seven years, he has chaired the Sporting Clays Classic at Addieville East Farm, a major annual fundraising event supporting scouting programs of the Council. Under his leadership, the event has grown significantly each year, raising $75,000 in gross revenue last year alone, with net proceeds of approximately $50,000 going directly to scouting initiatives.

Charlie’s involvement with Scouting was initially inspired by his son Ben’s experience in Troop 1 Jamestown and Camp Yawgoog. He has since remained committed to supporting local programs, especially the Council’s efforts to expand urban scouting, ensuring access for youth and families in cities like Providence, Pawtucket, and Central Falls.

Charlie, a longtime resident of Jamestown, Rhode Island along with his wife Lynn and children Ben and Katherine, originally hails from New Hampshire. He has practiced law for over three decades, representing healthcare and corporate clients.
