Robin L. Main Honored as Professional Industry Leader by Providence Business News

Hinckley Allen is proud to announce that Robin L. Main, partner and co-chair of the Environmental and Energy Groups, has been recognized as the Professional Services Industry Leader in Providence Business News 2026 Business Women Awards. A nationally respected practitioner in energy and environmental law, Robin brings more than 35 years of experience advising clients on high-stakes litigation, regulatory compliance, and complex permitting matters. This recognition highlights her exceptional leadership, industry impact, and longstanding contributions to the field.

Robin is widely regarded for her work on some of the most significant environmental matters in the region and across the country. Her practice includes environmental litigation, enforcement defense, regulatory compliance, renewable energy, and emerging contaminants cases.

A pioneer in renewable energy, Robin has played a central role in advancing offshore wind in the United States. She led the intricate permitting and related litigation for Deepwater Wind’s Block Island Wind Farm, the nation’s first offshore wind project, securing approvals under Rhode Island’s Ocean Special Area Management Plan and successfully defending the project before the Rhode Island Superior and Supreme Courts. She has since advised on major projects, including Revolution Wind, South Fork Wind, and Sunrise Wind, representing clients in federal consistency reviews and permitting across Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and New York, as well as litigation in Rhode Island.

Robin’s leadership has helped demonstrate the viability of offshore wind. As a leading voice in the field, she has shared her expertise as a speaker at several major industry events, including the American Clean Power Association’s Offshore Windpower Conference and the Environmental Business Council of New England’s Annual Offshore Wind Conference. She is a Fellow of the American College of Environmental Lawyers, one of the highest honors in the field.

Robin is also an engaged and committed volunteer throughout Rhode Island and New England. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Providence Performing Arts Center, and has held leadership roles with organizations including the Jamestown Education Foundation, the Providence Animal Rescue League, and The Women’s Fund of Rhode Island.

For more than three decades, Robin has been a driving force at Hinckley Allen, advancing our environmental and energy practice to national prominence. Robin currently serves as general counsel to the firm. Her strategic leadership, commitment to mentorship, and relentless advocacy for clients exemplify the standard of excellence Hinckley Allen delivers every day.
