Hinckley Allen represented its long-term client, NRG, a professional gaming and entertainment company headquarters in Los Angeles, California, in its acquisition of the “League of Legends” esports team and related assets from Madison Square Garden Sports Corp (“MSG Sports”). MSG Sports also obtained a significant equity interest in NRG as part of the transaction. NRG operates a stable of leading esports teams across a number of games, as well as leading entertainment business generating followers on NRG’s content channels and social gaming brand, Full Squad Gaming.
