Ned Sackman is a commercial litigator who resolves complex, high-value disputes, with a focus on intellectual property matters and a long history of representing auto and equipment dealers. Known for taking on problems that significantly impact businesses, Ned applies clear strategies and unshakable advocacy for companies.
In his commercial litigation practice, Ned regularly defends companies in contract matters, business torts, restrictive covenant disputes, and business divorces. Ned also works with auto and equipment dealers on franchise termination protests, add point disputes, and consumer litigation. In the area of intellectual property, Ned advises on trademark, copyright, and trade secret litigation, including frequent matters before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.
Ned is an active member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA), where he currently serves as Chair of the Copyright Law Committee. In that role, he assist in interfacing between the AIPLA and the U.S. Copyright Office, and organizes regular presentations on cutting edge copyright law issues, including the intersection of copyright law and artificial intelligence, and the impact of recent Supreme Court decisions, such as Cox Communications, Inc. v. Sony Music Entertainment, Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, Inc. v. Goldsmith, and Warner Chappell Music, Inc. v. Nealy.
Ned also stays current on developments in the automotive and equipment dealer law space through memberships in the National Association of Dealer Counsel, New Hampshire Automobile Dealers Association, and Massachusetts Automobile Dealers Association. He is currently monitoring several FTC enforcement actions, as well as tracking the most recent M.G.L. Chapter 93A decisions in Massachusetts state and federal court.

He has represented clients on a pro bono basis throughout his career, including a long representation of New Hampshire’s only inmate on death row in post-conviction proceedings seeking to vacate his capital sentence. Ned also serves on the Leadership Council for the Campaign for Legal Services, which helps raise money for New Hampshire’s two civil legal aid organizations—New Hampshire Legal Assistance and 603 Legal.
