Katie McDonough is a corporate and estate planning lawyer uniquely positioned at the intersection of business and family considerations. She serves as trusted counsel for a variety of clients, including construction companies, medical and professional service firms, and other family-owned businesses and non-profits across multiple states.

Katie advises for-profit and non-profit clients on transactions, financing, business planning, succession planning, and risk mitigation. She actively coordinates the provision of legal services relating to contracts and litigation, shareholder agreements and disputes, insurance disputes, mergers & acquisitions, employment matters, commercial contracts, and partnership and trust disputes.

Katie also has deep experience in estate planning and administration, allowing her to advise clients holistically as they pursue their business goals and provide comprehensive legal service to business owners and their families.

Katie represents families and individuals at all stages of the estate planning and probate process. She works with clients to assess their unique situations and implements the most cost-effective plan for their future.

Emerging Businesses:

When working with start-up and small business clients, Katie provides a practical approach by understanding revenue drivers and real risks in order to provide innovative advocacy for growing businesses.

Charities and Non-Profits:

Katie provides legal advice relating to corporate governance, board education, and legal compliance. She also handles bequest management, endowment reviews, and planned giving support for her non-profit clients, helping charities receive or free funds to increase availability for current operations.

Co-drafted New Jersey Supreme Court Rule 1:27-4, which permits military spouses to temporarily practice law in the state while their spouse is on military assignment. The rule was adopted after extensive advocacy, including written and oral submissions to the New Jersey Supreme Court.
