Stephanie Siegmann, litigation partner, chair of the International Trade & National Security Group, co-chair of the Cybersecurity, Privacy & Data Protection Group, and former National Security Chief in the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts, was recently quoted in Law360 regarding how the change in administration could impact the priorities of the MA U.S. Attorney’s Office.
She shared and agreed with others that increased attention on immigration is almost guaranteed under the new administration and anticipates an intense focus on China, particularly in areas where there is concern that the Chinese might leap-frog U.S. technological advances, including in artificial intelligence.
Stephanie also foresees an increase in cybercrime prosecutions, especially after hackers connected with the Chinese government hacked cellphones used by President-Elect Trump’s campaign and his lead defense lawyer, as well as an increase in white-collar cases and foreign influence-related matters.
