David has a national practice as a real estate partner focusing on commercial real estate and financing. He represents developers, retailers, construction companies, and financial institutions in the acquisition, permitting, development, financing and leasing of office buildings, shopping centers, large apartment complexes, and mixed-use developments. David counsels clients on complex land development issues and in structuring transactions, lending, and workouts. A significant portion of David’s current practice involves negotiating ground leases, office leases, retail leases, and sale/leaseback transactions.
For nearly a decade he served as the firm’s Managing Partner, stepping down in the fall of 2022. During his tenure, Hinckley Allen has grown significantly and enhanced its position as one of the top 200 law firms in the U. S.. Under his leadership, the firm opened a Chicago office, added lawyers in every market, and deepened its commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The firm also established the Hinckley Allen Social Justice Fund and is currently participating in the Mansfield Rule program, which is focused on increasing the representation of historically underrepresented lawyers in law firm leadership. Hinckley Allen has been consistently rated a Best Places to Work in multiple cities.
