Hinckley, Allen & Snyder LLP, Partner, Kathleen M. Mahan, became the 125th President of the New Hampshire Bar Association (NHBA), a non-profit 501(c)(6), court-mandated organization of nearly 9,000 lawyers and judges established in 1873, at the association’s annual meeting on June 8.
“Throughout my career, I have had the privilege to collaborate with the Granite State’s finest attorneys.” said Kate Mahan. “It is truly an honor to serve as NHBA President, and I look forward to working with members within the state and beyond our borders to promote high standards, integrity, competence, and public service in the legal profession.”
As President, Mahan will continue to focus on programs providing practical and valuable support for all members, including initiatives aimed at broadening the scope of mental health and wellness benefits to members both professionally and personally.
“Kate Mahan is a fantastic lawyer and well-respected colleague at Hinckley Allen.” said Patrick A. Rogers, Managing Partner of Hinckley Allen. “Being bar president is an important role that I know Kate will undertake with the utmost character, humility, and integrity. I’m proud to call her my Partner and friend.”
At Hinckley Allen, Mahan is a business litigator representing both plaintiffs and defendants in complex business matters involving organizational restructuring and corporate governance, non-compete conflicts, contracting, trade secret protections, and protracted property disputes. Mahan’s knowledge, influence, and powers of persuasion help clients to avoid dire circumstances and in some cases, costly legal ramifications. She is considered a leader in a wide range of intellectual property matters and was a key attorney in one of New Hampshire’s precedent-setting trade secret cases. Mahan has been ranked since 2020 as a leading lawyer for business in general commercial litigation by Chambers & Partners USA.
In addition to her many years in leadership roles with the NHBA, Mahan is involved in organizations across New England. Currently, she serves on the Federal Court Advisory Committee for the United States District Court for the District of New Hampshire, the Board of Directors for the New England Bar Association, and she is a member of the Daniel Webster-Batchelder American Inn of Court. Her civic involvement extends to her work as a Trustee of the New Hampshire Supreme Court Society, the Director of the Board of Directors for the New Hampshire Bar Foundation, and a member of her local food pantry board.
