Hinckley Allen Earns First Place in Connecticut’s Best Places to Work Ranking


Hinckley Allen was named #1 in the Hartford Business Journal’s 2015 ranking of the Best Places to Work in Connecticut. This marks the sixth consecutive year that Hinckley Allen has been recognized as a top employer in the large company category.

The Hartford Business Journal highlighted the firm’s focus on professional development as one of the main drivers of workplace success.

“We put a lot of time and effort into the development and training of our people,” said Thomas S. Marrion, a partner in the firm’s healthcare practice. “It doesn’t matter what your job is here; if you work hard and work well with others and you’re productive, you will be recognized for that and you will succeed here.”

The article called out the firm’s positive team-based culture. Megan McCormack, Director of Human Resources at Hinckley Allen emphasized: “it really is about creating a positive culture and one where people are supported. They’re rewarded for hard and quality work. They support each other, they have respect for each other and they feel valued.”

The Hartford Business Journal article also acknowledged the firm’s investment in the community and its emphasis on work-life balance. In addition to monthly wind downs, regular employee lunches, and holiday parties, Hinckley Allen participates in a number of community service projects, including volunteer visits to a local soup kitchen, Camp Courant, and Connecticut Public Television.

Hinckley Allen received the award at a special awards ceremony on March 11, 2015.

About The Hartford Business Journal’s Best Places to Work in Connecticut

This survey and awards program was designed to identify, recognize, and honor the best employers in Connecticut, benefiting the state’s economy, workforce, and businesses. The list is made up of 35 companies split into two categories: 18 small/medium-sized companies (15-199 US employees) and 17 large-sized companies (200 or more US employees). Hinckley Allen earned this year’s #1 place for Best Places to Work in Connecticut in the large-sized company category.

Companies from across the state entered the two-part survey process to determine the Best Places to Work in Connecticut. The first part consisted of evaluating each nominated company’s workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems, and demographics. The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final ranking.
