Hinckley Allen Expands Corporate, Real Estate Practices

Hinckley Allen today announced that three new attorneys will be joining the firm. They are Boston-based real estate attorney Thomas Bhisitkul and corporate attorneys Charles R. McGonigal and Carlin O’Donnell.

Thomas Bhisitkul has rejoined the firm as a Partner in the Real Estate group. Prior to rejoining Hinckley Allen, Tom was a Principal at Moriarty Troyer & Malloy. Tom brings with him substantial expertise in navigating a wide range of commercial real estate transactions. With more than 25 years of experience in commercial real estate law, Tom represents clients in all aspects of acquisition, development, and leasing. His clients have undertaken projects across the United States and included companies of all sizes, from Fortune 500 companies, to national retailers, to local shopping center, office and other commercial property owners and investors.

Tom is past president of the Massachusetts Real Estate Bar Association and currently serves as co-chair of the Association’s Commercial Leasing Section. He is a graduate of Boston College and Boston College Law.

Tom is based in the firm’s Boston office and has bar memberships in Massachusetts and the Federal District Court for Massachusetts.

In addition to Tom, two Associates joined the firm’s corporate and business practice.

Charles R. McGonigal focuses on advising clients in the tax aspects of a variety of private equity and M&A transactions, including fund formation and advisement on investment structuring.

Before joining the firm, Charles worked at Proskauer Rose as an associate. Charles earned his J.D. from Harvard Law School, where he was a senior technical editor of the Harvard Law & Policy Review and vice president of TaxHelp. In addition, he clerked for the Hon. Irma Raker at the Court of Appeals of Maryland and interned for the Council of Europe and Centre for Law & Democracy. Prior to law school, Charles created database products for clients including the United States Army, Google and the New York Stock Exchange, providing financial and logistical technology solutions. He is a member of the Massachusetts Bar and will be based in Boston.

Formerly of Latham & Watkins, Carlin O’Donnell focuses on a variety of corporate and transactional matters. Carlin’s practice focused on representing U.S. and non-U.S. private equity, infrastructure, venture capital, and credit fund sponsors and advisers in connection with the formation, structuring, operation, and management of their investment funds. He also advised institutional investors on the terms of their primary and secondary investments and co-investments.

Carlin earned his J.D. from Harvard Law School and his B.A., summa cum laude, from Fairfield University. While in law school, he was a member of the Committee on Sports & Entertainment Law and directed Harvard Law’s 2017 Sports Symposium, “Legal & Ethical Issues Affecting NFL Player Health.” Carlin currently serves as a member of the Junior Board of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Metro New York and the Head of School’s Advisory Council at the Gordon School in East Providence, Rhode Island. Carlin is licensed to practice law in New York and will be based in Providence.
