
Laura Angelini is a Partner in the Firm’s Government Enforcement & White Collar Defense practice group and Chair of the Firm’s Sexual Misconduct and Workplace Harassment practice group.
Laura defends individuals and organizations in investigations and prosecutions involving the False Claims Act, the Anti-Kickback Statute, the Stark Law, HIPAA, Mail and Wire Fraud, Medicare / Medicaid billing requirements, off-label promotion, drug diversion, improper gifts, gratuities and Honoria and other healthcare industry compliance issues. Laura’s clients include executives and other professionals of patient assistance organizations, pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers and distributors, medical supply companies, hospitals and academic medical centers, behavioral health care organizations, skilled nursing facilities and physician practice groups. Laura’s government investigation experience also extends to the construction and public procurement, securities and financial services industries.
Laura represents educational institutions, faculty members, students and their families in misconduct investigations, Title IX proceedings and related criminal and civil proceedings.
Recent Experience
- Lead counsel to non-profit patient assistance foundation in connection with two federal investigations under the False Claims Act, the Anti-Kickback Statute and the Internal Revenue Code.
- Trial counsel to Boston-area land owner indicted on federal wire fraud and conspiracy charges in connection with $75 Million real estate transaction with Wynn Resorts Limited. Obtained acquittal on all charges following multi-week jury trial in federal court.
- Trial counsel to nurse practitioner charged with prescribing opioids in violation of federal drug laws. Obtained acquittal on all charges following multi-week jury trial in federal court.
