Hinckley Allen welcomes Patrick J. Carleton to the firm as counsel in the Construction & Public Contracts Practice. Patrick joins the firm’s Fort Lauderdale, Florida office as a distinguished commercial litigator with over two decades of work in the construction and insurance industries. Patrick’s deep expertise in both the construction and insurance industries strengthens the firm’s comprehensive legal offerings.
Hinckley Allen opened its Fort Lauderdale office in February of this year and has experienced steady growth across the firm’s footprint. In addition to bringing on an Intellectual Property counsel in New Hampshire, the firm has strategically expanded its real estate finance group with the addition of two prominent partners, as well as a corporate and business partner.
Patrick’s extensive background includes handling a broad range of construction-related issues such as design defects, construction delays, site condition claims, and lien and bond disputes. His deep understanding of the construction industry is rooted in his early career as a licensed residential builder, giving him unique insight into the complexities of construction cases. This practical experience, combined with his legal acumen, positions him as a trusted advocate for clients navigating intricate construction disputes.
In addition to his construction litigation practice, Patrick is highly experienced in resolving insurance coverage matters, addressing both first and third-party claims. He has successfully represented clients in contract and claims disputes, among other insurance-related issues. His wide-ranging expertise also extends to real estate and title disputes, employment and labor law, appellate matters, leasing, and ERISA claims.
Patrick earned his J.D. from the University of Detroit-Mercy School of Law and graduated from the University of Michigan-Dearborn with his B.A. Additionally, he earned a Commercial Real Estate Certificate from Cornell SC Johnson College of Business. Patrick is a member of the Florida Bar and the State Bar of Michigan. He is also a member of the Palm Beach County Bar Association.
